The Engagement

On October 3, Carol and I joined Lane and Pam Stidham on a trip east to Lake Placid, Florida to visit Lane's Parents.  This occasion was to celebrate Lane's 50th birthday!  We were joined by our kids and many Stidham family members.  Chris, our oldest, couldn't make it to the event because he was called into work (or so he claimed).  Hmmm...

Unknown to Danielle Stidham, Chris had arrived earlier that day (3hr. trip) with a couple of their friends to decorate the dock and gazebo for the surprise "Proposal".  Danielle's sister, Amber, received the "text" signal prompting her to give Danielle the final installment of "proposal clues" Chris had been giving her along this journey.  Danielle knew something was up at this point and opened the clue. When the all the clues were placed together, it instructed her to go outside.

The back the Stidham's house faces a large lake, so when the curtains were opened, the picture of a beautiful sunset outlining the silhouette of the dock and gazebo was stunning.  At the end of the dock was a outline of a man wearing a black suit beckoning for his girl to join him for the precious proposal moment which she had been anticipating for so long.  It was an exciting and rewarding moment which we will all treasure.

After all the picture taking was completed, we joined the rest of the family inside for food and cake.  A birthday song was sung for Lane (oh yeah, it's his birthday too) and sang an engagement song to the new couple!  It was a late evening with about an 1 1/2 hour ride home.  Well done Chris and welcome to our family Danielle!  Thank you  Dee Dee and Charles Stidham for opening up your home for this special occasion!
