That's LIFE...what a journey.

A few years ago we were at a Christian retreat we in Maryland called Sandy Cove.  It's one on our families favorite getaways.  For years it was an annual event we all looked forward too.  Tonight I stumbled onto a video  that was played at Sandy Cove during our last visit called "That's Life".  It brought back some great memories and the video was funny and true.   Enjoy!

We Need One Another

"To each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.” - 1 Corinthians 12:7
The Holy Spirit uses believers to minister to other believers.

Right in line with modern culture’s emphasis on personal independence, it’s often easy for one to say, “If I have the all-sufficient Holy Spirit living within me, that’s all I need to live my Christian life.” That is true, but because you are not completely sanctified, you do not always allow the Spirit to fully do His work. Therefore, God needs to use other believers to minister the Spirit’s correction, exhortation, or encouragement.

The Bible is very clear about this. The Epistle to the Hebrews says God wants followers who do not waver in their profession of faith. And a primary way Christians will fulfill that is by regularly meeting together and seriously stimulating one another to love and good works (Hebrews 10:23-25).

We don’t have to look far for the proper setting in which to meet regularly and encourage one another. It’s any Bible-believing local church that is exercising its spiritual gifts. These special gifts are simply the loving channels through which the Holy Spirit ministers to those within the fellowship of believers. Today’s verse suggests that each of us has a gift, and this truth is explained a little more in verse 11: “One and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.” Here the apostle Paul reveals yet one more way in which the Holy Spirit sovereignty helps us and others to become more mature.

What’s remarkable about the Spirit’s working through us is that we become extensions of His voice. Perhaps you’ve thought of that comparison at times when you’ve shared the gospel with the lost. But the analogy fits equally well when you reach out and minister to someone within your church. The idea of being an extension of the Holy Spirit’s ministry ought to encourage you toward greater faithfulness in using your spiritual gifts to help other believers. Likewise, it should make you more sensitive to the Spirit’s correcting and edifying work in your life as others come alongside and minister to you (Collosions 3:12-13).

For Further Study:
Read 2 Corinthians 8:1-7. What kind of example did the Macedonians set regarding aid to other believers? How should that motivate us (v. 7)?

How to Eat Fruit

FOR WHAT THIS IS WORTH, YOU MAY WANT TO TRY IT. SOME INTERESTING INFORMATION IN HERE.

This is from Pam, who works at the Mayo Clinic. She works in the research area of Mayo and comes across some very informative facts in her work. This one is a great one! Who would've thunk!! EATING FRUIT.  We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It's not as easy as you think.  It's important to know how and when to eat.  What is the correct way of eating fruits?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS!

* FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.*

If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

*FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD.*

Let's say you eat two slices of bread and then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through
the stomach into the intestines, but it is prevented from doing so.  In the meantime the whole meal rots and ferments and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil...

So please eat your fruits on an empty stomach or before your meals! You have heard people complaining - every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat
durian [ define | CLICK ] my stomach bloats up, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet etc - actually all this will not arise if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. The fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!

Graying hair, balding, nervous outburst, and dark circles under the eyes all these will not happen if you take fruits on an empty stomach.

There is no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton  [ define | CLICK ] who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the secret of beauty, longevity, health, energy, happiness and normal
weight.

When I was young...

In the early 1960's
  • I watched Black & White Television with rabbit ear antennas
  • We had to go over to the television to change the channel
  • There were about a dozen channels to choose from
  • Our telephone had a long cord and a rotary dial
  • There wasn't anyway to record a television show.
  • Mom use to ring a bell out the back door when she wanted us to come home from playing
  • We listened to music on the record player or the A.M. radio
  • Mail was hand written and hand delivered
  • Clocks had to be wound up or plugged in to work
  • All of our drinks came in bottles made of glass or waxed cartons
  • Leftover food was wrapped in aluminum foil or wax paper
  • We played board games, played cards, hide and seek and other types of games that required two or people to play.
  • My parent's car did not have air conditioning and neither did our home.
  • We drank tap water
  • Washes our dishes by hand
  • We used maps when we traveled
  • We used carbon paper in our typewriters to make copies
  • The lawn mower did not have a motor, it had to be pushed to move the blades.
  • Smoking cigarettes and pipes was not considered harmful by adults
  • Later when there were copy machines, we would cut out pictures or larger fonts labels and paste them into a new document with tape or glue.
Wow, how things have changed.
  • We got our first computer in 1990.  It had a 650 MB hard drive and 4 megs of RAM.  The built in fax modern meant I didn't have to buy a fax machine.
  • Now we have remotes, cell phones, laptops, ipods, plastic, video games, GPS's and much more.
Here is a video which reviews the progression of technology and projects its advancement in a "Did You Know" fast-paced format.  Very interesting, I hope you enjoy!
